Ugly Yellow Freight Hat meets his match

Well it was to be an exciting time at The track this past weekend. We took a rookie driver to a track that is notorious for major carnage.
It started off pretty good on Friday. We were getting good seat time for the rookie on some old tires we could just beat up. A few adjustments and the times were heading in the right direction. UYFH was just chilling on the ride
Friday night

we decided to eat at certain restaurant. I order some carnitas and am sucking down the beer as fast as it hits the table. We're all giving our waitress some good natured ribbing by now. Our food gets here and I look at my plate and count about 6 little pieces of meat. soooo being me I ask her "Is the pork at a premium today or did I order a carnitas garnish because cheffie poo is alota bit stingy?"

Waitress: Are you saying its not enough?

JD: I'm saying that if I order carnitas it should be the main focus of the dish and not a garnish so yeaaaaaaa sister.(with a smile)

Waitress: Ok I'll tell the chef

JD: Thank you dear!

*Two pitchers later*

Manager: Who ordered the carnitas? (My boys all look up from their mugs and plates and point right to me the rats)

JD: that would be me

MGR: Here you are sir (he puts down a plate all-you-can-eat-style PILED with carnitas)

so now the fellas are saying "you know you have to eat ALL of it since ya bitched"

JD: yea, yea *thinking, rat bastards* I down it all but the worst part was they werent even good. The driest carnitas I have eaten EVAR!!

So I'm feeling good and full and all of a sudden out comes the staff slapping a sombrero on my head, dessert on the table and singin me Happy Birthday!!(it wasnt)

the boys all laugh and think I'm embarrased but I look at them and say "What are you fools laughing at? I got my dessert for free and you all had to pay!!!

SATURDAY

UYFH is jealous of my new sombrero because the sombrero is a social butterfly. Everyone in the pits has to wear it for awhile.

Meanwhile back on track its a practice session and I send the driver out on track but I'm not satisfied with the tire setup so I tell the crew chief to bring him back in. I change things around and as I get ready to send him back out some says there's oil under your car! It seems that one of our illustrious crew memebers installed a new rearend in the car but forgot to put one essential piece back in. Its a good thing I had him come back in because that would have been ugly if that part failed on track! We fix it and all's well in our hood.

The race didnt go well. we didnt wreck we just had a real off night setup wise and speed wise. But like I say "at least we rolled the car back in the hauler instead of having to use the tow truck." So now its on to the next test this weekend and race the week after.

Holy Crap!

Its already July?!?!?! It been what amounts to a crazy hectic race season. The Readers Digest version goes: Team starts season on high note-1st race in and it implodes! 2 drivers leave with their cars and equipment saying that the other crew chief is jacking them around giving them inferior equipment. Then we are down to 2 cars and drivers. In June, lightning strikes a second time. Yep, another explosion. the remaining 2 drivers echo the first two in actions and reasons and say "we're outta here!" But all is not lost, for our main driver says the newly reformed team includes the Tireman! (It better after I swapped transmissions 15 times in one weekend!)

Ok thats it for now. stay tuned

Shorties Back

Well its a new year and a certain cheeky ewe is harrassing me to update this blog of mine so here goes. (Happy now?)

These past holidays were the best I've had in a very long time. My oldest Daughter came to spend the holidays with us. I hadn't seen her since she was 13 and she'll be 18 this month.(long story, some other time) Its filled that void back up. It was excellent!! We've talked every day since! I'm feeling old knowing she's turning 18 holy cow. Not to be cliche but the time really did go by fast. I can still hear her little voice saying "daddy" like she's still 8. She says she doesnt want a birthday cake or candles but I'm getting one anyway(with candles, sorry Shortie). I cant wait!
While I'm supposed to be getting ready for the first race of the season we've had a setback.
We sent our motors out to be rebuilt by a good builder but I wanted to use someone else, oh well. so we get our motors, inspect them and holy crap they're all overbuilt! These things are illegal and we cant and wont pass tech with them!! They wont be re- rebuilt in time so we ordered new motors but those wont get here in time either so the first race will be a scratch for us. Thats just wayy frustrating! But at least we now have time to take our time putting new bodies on our cars. hehehe
